To A Truly Great Friend / Todd Bannister (Former Co-worker/Friend )
I knew Rick from the time I started working at Secord in Nov. '01 until I moved back to Nova Scotia in Feb '05. When he lived in the apartment in Scarborough, he'd always offer a drive for me to and from work. We had some adventures (sliding around in the winter with the blue Nissan and ended up hitting a car, call me to pick him up when we did a call b/c he had a few) but I remember he Always had a smile on his face.
I also remember his famous "Wave over the steering wheel" and he nicknamed me "The Texas Ranger". I'm not really sure why he did, but it stuck. I helped him, Paulene and Bradley move to the new house they got out in Oshawa. I also made the BBQ cover for him with the vinyl we had at the shop.
What I remember the most is when we use to park at the coffee shop before we'd all go to work, when I told him him and Hoss (Harris Cooper) that I was going back home, he said to me "I'll see you back here in October". I wish i'd see him in October but he was taken from us in August.
I never got a chance to go to the funeral but i figure now is the time to say what I got to say. To Paulene and Bradley, there was no one like him, he affected me and my life so much, I always remember him and it puts a smile on my face. Paulene, a little bit of Rick is always with you as long as Bradley is on this earth. Bradley, your dad was always so proud of you, he'd never stop talking about "his little buddy". Keep making him proud because he's always watching what you are doing.
Rick, I know you are with me when I think of you. You're never really gone. You will always be on my mind and a part of my life and no one or nothing will change that.
I'll see you when I get there. You are my friend and I love ya!
